MEET OUR FOUNDERS
It was in Toronto, sometime in early 1999. Scar Tissue was blasting out of radios all across the city, while crocus flowers were busting out of newly thawed ground. Julia Cohen, a young college student, was waiting tables when across the room she spotted Jason Martin - the new guy at work. Sparks flew. Hook-ups ensued. Let’s just say it was on.
In 2001 Jason landed a job as a server at Le Select - a legendary French bistro. Here he’s schooled on all things French cuisine and ultimately falls in love with rosé wine. Meanwhile, Julia’s career as a TV writer is taking off and the pull of the coast draws them west. In 2012 they moved to California and made a stunning realization - for all the wine made in the state, few if any winemakers were producing rosés that could hold their own with the best pink wines of France. And so a new Republic was formed: the Republic of Pink. The mission - to elevate and celebrate California rosé.
